Local Area

The area around Newton Poppleford offers simply the best of East Devon, from the beautiful regency seaside town of Sidmouth with its excellent selection of independent gift, clothing and lifestyle shops catering for all tastes, and with local butchers and fruit and veg shops, plus a Waitrose, and the usual smaller supermarkets, to the pretty fishing village of Beer, where you can still see the local trawlers being winched up the beach whilst enjoying a cream tea from one of the beach cafes. The market town of Honiton, with its myriad of antique shops and large Saturday morning market, and Ottery St Mary with its' stunning church and busy town centre are also well worth a visit. The towns of Budleigh Salterton, where the beautiful River Otter breaches a vast pebble beach to meet the sea, and Exmouth, with a thriving town centre, long sandy beach and impressive marina, are also only a few miles away from the village.
